This bust is a replica of the bust of Antoninus Pius. Nowadays it is part of the collection of the Louvre, Paris. These statues were often painted to make them appear lifelike.

Antoninus Pius (19th September 86 - 7th March 161) was emperor of Rome from 138 to 161 and member of the influential Gens Aurelia.

He was one of the most capable emperors from the history of the Roman empire and he respected everyones rights. When there was a disaster, he payed from his own possessions. He was the only emperor who was committed to improving the position of slaves.

This bust is completely handmade of alabaster. Its height is 50 cm including the pedestal and excl. its height is 43 cm. It is delivered including a black pedestal.
