This type of aventail was frequently worn in the Middle Ages combined with for example bascinets. Originals of aventails like this can be found at i.a. the Wallace Collection in London.
This aventail consists of flat rings riveted with wedge rivets and round, butted rings. They are interwoven 4 in 1 and have an inner diameter of 8 mm. The aventail can be attached to a helmet with a 4,5 cm wide leather edge at the upper side. It weighs approx. 2,95 kg.
